UCSF Third St. Parking Garage Façade
San Francisco, California
UCSF Third St. Parking Garage Façade Addition: “Cellular Origami”
Located in the heart of the thriving Mission Bay neighborhood of San Francisco across the street from the new Chase Center, this new façade for UCSF’s 3rd St. Garage was designed by Iwamoto Scott to clearly define the campus edge in dramatic fashion. With over 1500 distinct aluminum panels that shimmer in the sun, connection design was paramount to resist design requirements and allow for installation in an active transit corridor. Wind, Seismic, thermal expansion concerns were all addressed in this 3-dimensional engineering challenge.
