Eugene Airport
Eugene, Oregon
Hohbach-Lewin provided Structural Design and Construction Support Services for the City of Eugene’s Airport Expansion Project. The renovation project, completed in February 2017, was focused on easing congestion and improving functionality for passengers. The $17M construction budget included 19,350 square feet of renovated space and an additional 12,800 square feet of new construction, several areas including the security screening checkpoint, B-gate hold room, A-gate concourse and baggage claim area.
The renowned airport architectural firm of RS&H Architects provided architectural, mechanical, electrical and plumbing design but teamed with local expertise for their structural engineering, Hohbach-Lewin, and civil engineering, the BHE Group. Modeling the airport expansion in REVIT allowed for a higher level of coordination between the architectural, mechanical and structural systems as well as assisting our ability to match existing conditions such as the doubly curved glulam beams. Essex Construction acted as the General Contractor.
Officially 75 years old, the Eugene Airport had not had a substantial remodel since the late 80’s.
The airport is now a hub for six major airlines and offers ten non-stop destinations along with one-stop connections to nearly anywhere in the world. Completion of this latest expansion provides the perfect no-hassle and affordable option to hop on a plane and join us at the Eugene Office of Hohbach-Lewin.
